DUBAI JOURNALISTS MAKE THE GRADE

A group of Dubai journalists will receive certificates from Dundee Council leader, Jill Shimi at a ceremony being held in the Al-Maktoum Institute today (Fri Sept 8).



The ten strong group, five men and five women, arrived in Scotland six weeks ago to undertake courses in English language, multiculturalism and leadership.



They spent five weeks at St Andrews University and a week at Al-Maktoum Institute in Blackness Road.



It is the second year that the Institute has played host to a summer school class of staff employed by the media in the United Arab Emirates.



Professor Abd al-Fattah El-Awaisi, Principal of the Institute said:” It is always a pleasure for us to welcome visitors from the UAE to Dundee and Scotland. We are particularly pleased to be able to offer courses to those employed in the media as they take back with them positive messages about the warm welcome they receive.



“In future we hope to develop these short courses for members of other professions.”
